Taking sumbissions!

Taking submissions.

What?

You heard me. Any traditional press who would like to help me by taking Never Ceese the paperback so my distribution woes will be far less than what they are presently (it being considered a self-published POD now because of my having to go through Lightning Source to keep the story alive) can now contact me here. Just go to that page and click on the e-mail link. ;)

*added after the fact: Great googlely moogley! There's is no email address on that site. What happened to it? Who knows. So let's make it easy. I can be reached at sdent1@bellsouth.net*)

The book was short-listed for Bram Stoker Award in 2007 for Superior Achievement in a First Novel and was even voted book club choice of the month of April 2007 at the American Christian Fiction Writers Association. The latter only being possible because I was a member of ACFW at the time before I realized this group only helps authors find CBA affiliated Christian publishers and I'm not that.

Never Ceese has been deemed socially acceptable for distribution to the Christian market though so if you're a general market traditional press that wants to get a piece of that market as well as general market horror/young adult readers, here ya go!

I've got international customers as well as customers here at home that are having way more trouble than they should getting their hands on this book. So if you're a traditional press with distribution--yeah, I'm taking submissions. To safe you time and rejection, no, I don't take submissions from CBA Christian press because, well, I don't pay to be affiliated and my work would have to be edited to fit into your niche market. Sorry but I can't distance my general market readers with such antics. All CBA affiliated publishers have already told me they'll never publish a vampire or werewolf anything.

Good to know, right?

So Merry Christmas to some lucky traditional publisher perhaps.

Cyber Monday and Amazon.

A quick note about Cyber Monday and Amazon in regards to purchasing my books. Just wanted to remind that on Amazon my books are still being bundled with books put out by affiliated Christian publishers that discriminate, censor and otherwise provide fiction for a very targeted market and don't support any other Christian market out there.

Worse than that, Amazon is also bundling the hardback of Never Ceese with Forever Richard presently and not the paperback. I've attempted on several occasions to ask Amazon how I can control bundling options on MY listings but I've received no answer beyond their automated, "blah, blah, blah," irrelevant response.

I'll not receive a response from Amazon (at least not a helpful one) because in the whole scheme of things, I don't matter. I'm below their radar and off the map succeeding with a mid-range publisher without their help. When I do become an author to pay attention to (according to Amazon standards) I will work to have ALL my listings removed from Amazon as the way they operate does not help anyone but those published by larger houses who don't need Amazon's help.

Actually most on-line bookstore sites operate this way but Amazon is the only one I've dealt with so far who will not address any problem that might help an authors books sell better.

So please, for the love of God, DO NOT buy the hardback of Never Ceese bundled with Forever Richard. The money goes straight to Journey Stone Creations and I see none of the proceeds. Besides, why would you pay full price for a book you can get for $2 - $3 all day long from those who buy from the liquidators Journey Stone sold all of their stock to when they went under?

Also PLEASE do not purchase books put out by affiliated Christian authors that are bundled with mine. I do not want to support an industry that excludes and doesn't support me or any other author that doesn't pay a fee and doesn't write censored and targeted fiction.

There are a gazillion other ways to buy my book as many of you have found! ;)

So there you go.

Carry on!

And happy Cyber Monday!

Hardbacks of Never Ceese liquidation!!

That's right. I said it. LOL I did manage to squeeze some hard backs out of my first publisher before they decided to steal the rest of the books they owed me for website work and now I'd like to unload them. Mainly because I need money for Christmas and I'm tired of storing these hardbacks. Sooooo click on the buy it now button if you're interested but when they're gone they're gone. I'm selling them for $10.00 plus $3.00 shipping here in the U.S.

Merry Christmas!

Excerpt from Cyn No More?

Excerpt from Cyn No More?

Well, it's unedited but just a little something to let you know I am working on getting it together. I'm so very excited about this addition to my Thirsting for Blood Series. Anyway, here's the possible excerpt. LOL

Ceese speaking to Father/Merideth.

Ciod e Dia?” she said in flawless Irish Gaelic.

“What is God?” Brendan translated.

Father smiled and replied. Tha Dia na Spiorad, neo-chriochnach, bith-bhuan, agus neo-chaochluidheach nabhith, na ghliocas, na chumhachd, na naomhachd, na cheartas, na mhaitheas, agus na fhìrinn.”

Brendan’s translation followed albeit in breathless wonderment. “God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.”

Rodney, both brows raised in mock surprise as nothing could really surprise him anymore, said, “Umm, I take that to mean that Father is no longer a vampire.”

Okay so there ya go!

Happy Thanksgiving. ;)

Proof that readers are paying attention.

Yes. I needed confirmation and I got it. I found this on a blog tour notorious for reviewing only CBA Christian fiction and not fiction by other authors who have been approved for distribution to the Christian market by Spring Arbor. This tour refused to tour Forever Richard but HA, it didn't matter. This excerpt came from a reader who was reviewing what CBA wanted to claim at the time was the first Christian vampire novel when it in fact was simply the first book published by a CBA affiliated house that dared to dabble in something that seemed to be vampirish (despite what they advertise and say no CBA affiliated house will put out a vampire novel. Their core market won't read it and will threaten to burn the book at the stake.) In the review you'll find this comment:

. . . Sue Dent's "Never Ceese" takes the honor of being the first with a redemptive vampire. . .

What? What? What? Ah well, one sentence but hey, it's something. :)

For the record, my stories aren't the first with a redemptive vampire mine are simply the first vampire/werewolf story that appealed to that closed market of CBA Christian readers whose affiliated publishers won't put out such stories. Nevertheless, it's good to get a mention and it's certainly good to know that readers are paying attention. :)

Fair Warning!

I'm running low on Forever Richard again. If you want to give the gift with bite for Christmas, you'd best order soon. Well, if you want it autographed that is. :)

And to help you along, here's one way to order both. Just click on the image to the left.

To buy each book individually, look in the sidebar and click there. Again, you can order these books wherever books are sold but you won't typically find them on bookstore shelves yet. We all have to start somewhere, right? All bookstores can order them though, so there ya go. :)

This is a nice way to bundle these two books. Amazon is notorious for linking my work with books from an affiliation that excludes based on whether a publisher pays a fee and writes targeted fiction. Amazon has complete control of this and I can't seem to keep it from happening.

This is the only way I know to nip some of that activity.

God Bless and Merry Christmas.

I think I figured PayPal out!

Hey, I think I figured out how to work Paypal's checkout so that it accurately charges for shipping. Why don't about 1500 of you go and see if it works by purchasing either Never Ceese or Forever Richard.

I'd ask for more of you to go order but I think 1500 will be enough for now. :)

Once more, for the record . . .

Once more and for the record. Never Ceese and Forever Richard are available ANYWHERE books are sold. No, you probably won't find them on the shelves of larger bookseller's yet. An author has to get out there first. But YES, every bookstore in the world can order both books. Forever Richard for sure and Never Ceese as well. Forever Richard is through a traditional press though so it will be waaaaaaay easier not to get that confused look from bookstore personnel when you ask for it. They'll know right away which book you're talking about as it will show up in their system as books they can order (because The Writers' Cafe Press has distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor.)

Never Ceese the paperback has been republished through Ingram's POD, Lightning Source so while every larger bookstore can get it, they like to pretend they can't because the ISBN doesn't act like it does when a book is published through a traditional press. Here's the ISBN for Never Ceese the paperback: 978-0976994701. Make sure and have it with you when you go to place your order so they can in fact find the book. Otherwise you'll get that look. And you know you don't want that look.

Even larger Christian bookstores, who exclude based on CBA affiliation despite a book being approved for distribution through Spring Arbor, (the official distributor to the Christian market,) can get BOTH of my books. They just won't carry them in the store and they'll usually make you pay for shipping AND send it to your house. I'm not sure what the sending it to your house is all about but I've got my own ideas.

And just a quick reminder, small presses get little to no attention or help from anyone in the industry. For instance, the publication date for Forever Richard was pushed off two times at least. The publication date is now accurate in the database where ALL bookbuyers are supposed to go to get information yet most of the time, the information is wrong. A cover from a wonderful artist was displayed for a short time with advertisements to get attention for the book. It was never submitted as the official title. Yet Muze, who supposedly gets information from Baker & Taylor (main source anyway according to them) who gets information from God knows where, is showing the wrong cover and information as well . . . isn't life just grand!

I suppose in the entire scheme of things it means nothing but do know that the only way to get accurate information about Forever Richard or Never Ceese is to visit my personal blog or websites or the website of my publisher www.thewriterscafe.com Stupid book industry. Thanks for all your help. Good grief!

New interview with Sue Dent up!

New Sue Dent interview and chance to win Never Ceese. Sorry but you have to pay for Forever Richard dagnabbit! How else will I be able to write if I don't make any money? ;)
Okay so go here for your chance.
I met K Dawn Byrd on Facebook after joining a group called Christian Fiction Gathering. If you're on FaceBook you should look this group up. One of the first Christian Fiction groups I've found on FaceBook that treat non-affiliated Christian authors with equal value as affiliated ones. You certainly don't find that everyday. :)
There's a question you have to answer for your chance to win but it's fairly easy.

Happy Birthday Publisher Lady! :)

Happy Birthday Publisher Lady, Cynthia!

A little over two years ago, give or take a few months, a certain person at the Writers' Cafe Press took a chance on a certain author when nobody else would and now it's her birthday again! Funny how that happens every year.

I agree that moving back to Canada was the best thing but I MISS YOU GUYS!!!!!

Happy Birthday YOU!

I have distribution people!

Okay, so since I do have distribution, because Forever Richard is through a traditional press, The Writers' Cafe Press and Never Ceese is available through Ingram, do go to your local bookstore to order. No, the books probably won't be on the shelf in most stores. Why would they be? No one knows who I am and my books certainly aren't selling in numbers that make a difference to brick and mortar bookstores--at least not yet. :)

BUT you will save on shipping if you simply go to your larger bookstores to order or on-line.

I will tell you this, Never Ceese, the paperback, isn't orderable through Canadian bookstores yet because I, Sue Dent, didn't see the paperwork I was supposed to fill out to make this happen. Good grief!

So yes! Buy my books anywhere and do know that you can go straight away to any bookstore to order them. The more you order, the sooner they'll start showing up on the shelf.

As for Never Ceese the hardback, be careful. Listings for this book are inaccurate. In Canada this book is showing up as paperback and the publisher as Christian Focus Publications. DO NOT buy any copies of Never Ceese the paperback unless it shows the publisher as S D Enterprises. Christian Focus Publications distributes through STL which is why they are showing up as the publisher. Initially Journey Stone Creations used STL(Send the Light) for distribution. Since information, once it's on the web, never goes away, Never Ceese is showing up as available through STL again. Never Ceese was never available through STL. The hardback is published by Journey Stone Creations who is no longer a traditional press and sends me no money for the 250 books they kept after liquidating the remaining 5000. Please do not buy any copies of Never Ceese the paperback unless it the publisher shows up as S D Enterprises.

Love Y'all!
Sue Dent

Christmas deal! I've got copies of Forever Richard.

Yes that's right fans. Another slight box of books has arrived at my door and so I now have ten *whoosh*. . . make that seven copies of Forever Richard to autograph and sell myself. Please use the links on SueDent.blogspot.com to order and not the ones on my websites as I can no longer afford to sell my books for ten dollars with free shipping. Each book from me autographed will be $12.00. I will have to add postage for orders outside the US but do my best to get the best price. Order now and get the set for Christmas!

I do so hope you get to take advantage before the books are gone. :)

Plenty of Never Ceese the paperback to take advantage of for now. I ordered a lot more of those.

Good luck and Merry Christmas. But of course, Happy Thanksgiving too!

Old but awesome review of Never Ceese. :)

Oh do go check it out. You won't regret it. It's rare if not unheard of for a book written for the general market reader to appeal to that very exclusive audience CBA serves. Only a few books have done this. The latest would be The Shack. Another would be C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia.

Another fan reports in and PW still has nothing to add.

Another fan reports in and here's what they had to say:

Hello! I finished reading Forever Richard two days ago, after finishing it in a day! I absolutely loved it! Can't wait for Cyn No More! :-D Thanks for the effort you put into this!

From one of my many Christian young adult readers who will never find my work in their larger Christian bookstores despite my books being deemed socially acceptable for distribution to the Christian market and despite appealing to many readers who frequent this venue.

As you can see, I get those readers none-the-less!

You rock Beth! Do keep reading. It's why I write. ;)

Forever Richard - "Sold Out"

Okay does it count when I've sold all I have? LOL Hey, it's something, right? So I ordered ten more and they will be here in a few days. First come first serve and I'll have to raise the price to twelve dollars with no shipping or twelve dollars with shipping depending on how I can work pay pal. Even at that I don't make squat on the book but I'm hoping y'all get busy with that there ordering process so that won't matter. :D

But yes, technically Forever Richard is sold out.

Woo Hoo!
